MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Best.. Episode.. Ever.

I really think the ending undercut all the dramatic weight it had been building. The Doctor should've been trapped in the past and forced to take "The Slow Path" to get back home. You know, like the entire episode was building up to.

I agree with David as well. The rest of it though was absolutely fantastic. In fact, this episode won a Hugo award for best episode of a series beating out Battlestar Galactica episodes and other big shows.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
I can understand that!

Though, if he was forced to stay, I would have tunk it would have had a bit too much romantic drivel..

Heh you obviously haven't finished series 3 yet then?

Hi all! Sanfam and I are at the Apple store. I'm posting from a display iPhone!
*giggles with ridiculous glee*
anyway, yes watch season 3 before you judge, there's an amazing two-parter even Sanfam admitted was nearly perfect.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
Lol awright.

Oh, and btw, madame pompadore was seriously good looking.

The Daleks of Manhatten?
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Oh yes, we must not forget the sheer brilliance of Daleks in Manhattan.

Worf

BTW, there is one huge reason why The Slow Route was not an option: The tardis was on a derelict spaceship.

And yes, Daleks in Manhattan was the most awesomest episode evar!

I read that there was a trimmed scene where Rose explained to Mickey that if the Doctor didn't find a way back to the ship, they could get home by using the TARDIS automatic recall from "Parting of the Ways."

The way I see it playing out, the Doctor is stuck in the past, and Rose and Mickey wait a while before switching on the TARDIS autopilot. They show up in London, where the Doctor, only somewhat grayer, meets them happily, though bittersweet. He does the same blatant "I'm always all right" lie from the end of the aired episode, and we continue on, the Doctor's activities for the last three hundred years a curious mystery.

Oh yes, Daleks in Manhattan...a set I could never be without! Before viewing that particular small-screen masterpiece, I was incomplete and unfulfilled. Now? Well...just look at me!

I think what DoM describes would have served to make a nearly-perfect episode perfect.

How could anything be as perfect as Daleks in Manhattan?

So I was the only one who thought DoM was mediocre?

I do think Fireplace was a truly great episode tho

How dare you mock my love!

I thought the gold art-deco Dalek in the gold art-deco elevator was a nice visual counterpoint.

Spoiler: Stop it with the spoilers!!
• I think the best works of fiction are the ones I watch over and over hoping that the outcome will change on the nth watching.

This applies to Razor as well.

Why did you even bother? I've done everything I can to wipe it from my memory.

well, podcasts, and i'm probably gonna watch it again when get my season 3 DVD Set.. (which, with the season 3 soundtrack, hasn't yet arrived... *grmph*)
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
*laughs* I hate to admit I agree with everyone about DiM. Though there was one thing about that two-parter I really liked: the Angel and Devil song, it's on the new soundtrack and I love it. :D
There are several beautiful and fun bits on the new soundtrack in fact. It's not as consistently good as the first one, but there are bits I can't be without now. :D
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
You know, being a DVD...such "moments" are easy to skip. *click* *click*
• Wait, you have the new soundtrack?

Edit: Grr, Amazon US needs to freaking admit that it exists, then carry it as well.
• David of MacDavid of Mac Elite Ranger Ca
If the last one is any guide, it'll come out in the US around February.

I got a ...special... copy from an unnamed source. It's only 192k though, so I can't wait to get my hands on a real copy.
