To Wii or not to Wii?

So, my parents asked me what I wanted for Christmas the other day and I jokingly said "a Wii". Now that I think about it, I think I really do want one. Does anyone have one or do you have an opinion on the matter? Is it worth it or would a PS3 or an Xbox 360 be a better investment?

Ironically, I vowed to never buy another consol again, preferring instead to stick to computer games. But I have to admit, I have been unimpressed with most PC games out there as of late.

Thoughts?

By the way, I just won an auction for an Atari 7800 on eBay! :D I’m reclaiming part of my childhood. ;)

    Definitely worth it.

Why did you vow never to buy a console again?

Wiis are totally wicked and worth the investment for sure.
  • Well I am biased forwarned

My Wifes son bought a Wii And We got A PS3 last year. He has always been using the PS3 and the Wii is never used. The Wii is fun but potential lies in HD visuals. If you buy an Xbox buy the latest produced units. MAny problems are being had with the first 4 million produced. I have been in the Sony Home Beta program for awhile and used the PS3 as a Linux terminal. I can say the most potential is in the PS3. But I am Sony's GAP(Gamer Adviser Panel) member and such so I am biased. The Blu-Ray, HD-DVD battle is indirectly involved in the consoles.

My own ignorance. I got a computer gaming kick and neglected all of my poor consoles. At the time, I felt like I had wasted my money investing in technology that became outdated ever 3 years or so. I now realize that the same thing happens with computers, so I will end up spending just as much (if not more) upgrading my PC than on a new console. Don't get me wrong, I was always well aware that computers become outdated, but I seriously underestimated the cost of upgrading.

    In short: I'm a moron. *shrugs* ;)

I don't see any point in vowing not to by some particular type of hardware. Buy what you need to play the games you want to play. :)

I'd love a Wii, but there are too many other things I'd like/need money for at the moment
