TV DVDs I need to buy

Ok I'm bored at work, the bank holiday weekend beckons, its hot and stuffy in the office and the boss is away... so having seen Stingrays post on DS9 I started thinking about the tv dvd sets I need to order. So here they are:

DS9 Seasons 1-7
TNG Seasons 1-7
Voyager Seasons 1-7
Stargate SG1 Seasons 1-7 and 9-11
Stargate Atlantis Seasons 1-3
Buffy Seasons 3-7
Angel Seasons 2-5
B5 Crusade
X-Files Seasons 2-10
BSG Season 1 & 3
24 Seasons 3-6
Lost Season 1

A quick tot up on Play for the 1st 4 shows in the list gave me a figure close to £400! Ouch! Tip of the darn iceberg...

Man I need a pay rise! And some extra storage as well :rolleyes:

    Ouch thats not a cheap list! I cant think of any I really want to get at the moment. Maybe finish off my SG1 collection, I just need series 8-10

    Thing is I pick some up from time to time but with general life/reality expenses it can be hard to justify at times. The last box set I bought was the x-files one not long after the m-lock versions got released (£11.99 can't be sniffed at). Maybe I should print the list out and stick it on the fridge and maybe those who really like me will maybe hint hint get one or maybe two items off the list for say birthdays or xmas ;)

    I got the band of brothers ammo box edition for £20 when I lived in Edinburgh :D

    What is the whole m-lock thing with the x-files dvds? I'm guessing its some inside joke maybe? I never watched it so its lost on me

    Its just a particular dvd case design, card sleeve with plastic dvd case inside, very much like the Firefly box. Whenever they advertise them online they usually state "m-lock" next to the name to distinguish from the older and larger boxsets that first came out. I actually really like the m-lock x-files cases, think they look nifty.

    The plastic case looks like this basically:

    I actually liked the show, lol, i've got seasons 1, 2 and 3, on VCD, but pretty bad quality, samsclub has S1&2 as a single set, and S3, its like $14 apiece, so for $30 i could have it.. heh

    Ah I see.

    I think I've only ever watched about 3 episodes of Sliders. Wasnt bad from what I saw, which I think were from the first season.

    I thought it was a fun show, actually got better later on in the series when they switched to a story arc.

    I've seen a couple of episodes but never enough to get me hooked. Did it get cancelled in the end or did they get to finish it?

    I think Peter played an evil doctor type and Jerry was a marine sarge or something.

    Well, not until Tuesday when I get paid no. But then I've got £50 in heating and gas bills to pay straight off, plus the usual month's bills, then a long weekend away with my girlfriend at the end of the month. Methinks I'm gonna be pretty poor till my student loan comes in at the end of the month

    Here's tip to save money, drop Voyager. But thats just me. :D

    I watched slider on and off during one of the 10 billion sci-fi reruns. It was kind of interesting at first but really got repetitive. I'm not sure what happened at the end except almost all the original cast was gone and it had that chick who appeared in one of the command and conquer games.

    Well I wouldn't order all the one go ;) Thats nuts and I haven't hit the lotto jackpot, yet... I could maybe get one a month but it the "should I be saving that £25.99 for a new kitchen and a central heating system" (buying a house at the mo...). That whole guilty feeling when one buys something considered "non-essential".

    Sliders was entertaining enough until main characters started leaving. The loss of the Professor was the biggest blow.

    Sliders was effin' awesome. The first season was fantastic, and the second fairly interesting until the above occurred. It's irritating to have people killed off for no good reason other than internal disputes and demographic appeal.

    SataiCallista just bought Sliders. the US Release has seasons 1 and 2 in the same package for $20 flat, though said packaging is absolutely terrible and *needs* to be upgraded. (Foam insert with slits in it to insert the six discs halfway) I am not going to bother with S3, but it does only cost $20 so I might get it for the sake of quasi-completionism.

    I was fine with John Rhys Davies leaving, i mean i liked him, but it was alright, and anyway, we lost him to gane Kari Whurer, mmmm, uihh anywaym, where was i, Oh yes, i only really got annoyed when Jerry O'connel left. but i still enjoyed the series.

    was good silly sci-fi fun.

    The plots took a turn for the worst after the Professor was gone. That and his character imparted a certain kind of humor to the show that just made everything flow so effortlessly.

    It started to suck once the professor left but I think when Jerry O'Connell left was right about when I asked myself if I was even watching the same show.
