Simple Question

ArgoneArgone Genuine Klingon
I've seen it 3 times but have to ask.

In Sleeping in Light does Sheriden die in the end or get transformed into something else?

He went beyond the rim. Whether or not that involves dying is unknown.

Funny, it seems Sheridan is the only non-FO who went beyond the Rim...

Why?
-Because Lorien gave strenghtened Sheridan's life with his own?
-Because Lorien just like Sheridan and felt that Sheridan should also come with him beyond the Rim.
-Because Sheridan understood something that took many millenias from other FO's?
-Other?

Not so simple question(s) anymore.
• Mr. FuryMr. Fury Earthforce Officer
That was good thinking!
Perhaps the One who was, the One who is and the One who will be will go beyond the Rim when their time is up.

(Did I got the One stuff right? It is a while since I have seen B5 episodes where it is mentioned... years...)

Sheridan was a part of lorien as lorien was a part of Sheridan. Sheridan was a part of Kosh as Kosh was a part of Sheridan. Sheridan was part First one.

Kinda wish he would have lived out his days with Delenn.

But I guess I would have been happy to have those extra years also.

We already know that both Sinclair and Delenn went beyond the rim as well.

Maybe Sinclair turned into Kosh? Think about it...Kosh was the only vorlon we knew that knew the events of the future. Kosh KNEW alot of things that were to come, including how he dies.

Only problem I see here is that Sinclair went back to the past before Kosh ever got smoked by the Shadows. It would be hard for Kosh to know any event beyond when Sinclair went back into the past if Sinclair = Kosh.

Nope. That was right after.
• The vorlons live alot longer than 1,000 years, so koch was probably born (or however beings of light make babies. Storks?) even before the time Sinclar was sent back to.

About Sheridan though, I always thought he died at the Coriona system. Yea, they didn't find his body, but based on the words that Lorien spoke to him, it seemed like he was just saying goodbye in his own way. The message I got out of that was something like: Sheridan has come such a long, long way, but he is still so young. Far too young to go beyond the Rim.
• ArgoneArgone Genuine Klingon
But he did have a Vorlan in him that did leave him with some enhanced power after it left!

I reckon sheriden went with lorien to the rim.He did die in the sense his body died and was vapourised as he was transformed into something like lorien, perhaps thats why he could not return as he was now a "fo" and no fo's were allowed to remain.Sinclair might still be frozen on the vorlon hw after his service was complete.

Sheriden might have died and gone to the "other" beyond, where ever dead people go.. you know that funky portal thingy the pilot Talia was talking to went into? But perhaps in order to get there he needed Lorien's help since between his intervention and Kosh's intervention things were kinda mucked up..

Wait, maybe the whole "beyond the rim" thing is an analogy for death, moving to the after life.. I mean the FO's while they are immune to age and disease, DO die, they get shot, fall of buildings, have mad men slam ships laden with nuclear weapons into their hide outs... that sort of things. Heck even vorlons get blown up, torn apart, and otherwise folded spindled and mutilated.

[This message has been edited by Tyvar (edited 12-04-2002).]

damn, I orignialy called them "forlons" nobody would have let THAT one go, considering the whole "mimbari" thingy on the other thread.

• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
It was mentioned somewhere that they were also transformed.

I think it's clear that they were changed into something higher by none other than Lorien himself. Their bodies were never found, and Lorien said he'd be there at the end. I'm sure it's for more than mourning.

But it seems that historical figures of their importance happened to be high enough to go beyond the rim. I'd imagine that if Sheriden went, then hell, Sinclair/Valen and Delenn should, as well.

As Sanfam said, it was mentioned somewhere. They were the three Ones.

And remember that Valen will return someday. Combining this fact with what we know of B5 history, I propose that in the year 1002258, John Sheridan, Delenn, Jeff Sinclair, Jason Ironheart, Lorien, the First Ones, Jesus Christ, Moses, Mohammad, Buddha, and the entire pantheons of the Greeks, Vikings, Hindus and Centuri (plus all the other religious icons I forgot) will all arrive on Earth for a big party, and, after it is crashed by all of the Legendary Forces of Evil in the Universe (guest starring Jhu' "Deathwalker" Dur and Mister Morden), will cause the sun to blow up (and at that very second, King Arthur returns as well, realizes there's nothing he can do, and skips town with that Ranger/Vorlon guy), which will mortally mortify them, so they give humanity the Vorlon homeworld as a replacement planet.
