I just ordered X3: Reunion 2.0 (GOTY 2007). I've waited long enough to get my paws on that one, as it was quite buggy when it first came out.
Watch the gameplay footage below to get a sample of a brief multi-player session.

I think the devs are B5 fans too. I wonder how long it will take before someone starts a B5 mod on this one, the game's just asking for it.
I can't wait. :D
Nope, NO copy-protection whatsoever... you will need to register your game to get free updates and upgrades. They are very clear on that.
No surprise there, the lead designer worked on GalCiv II... :D
I don't know about a B5 mod but there is already a Star Wars mod ;)

This game is turning into the Supreme Commander of space games. I'm not sure this is supposed to be like that in the official release, someone's been messing with the settings already. :D Haven't seen this many ships in a long time.
It looks like a cool game, by the way.
Now if only I had time...

So do I, but I'm not sure this is a problem unless you have a laptop that does not meet the specs below:

Considering the fact that the game lets you dial down the eye candy, most people should be alright, I mean, this isn't Crysis we are talking about. :D
I'm still a bit unsure how I'm going to get the game, there doesn't appear to be a European distributor and the only alternative would be to order it directly from the makers, download the game and optionally have them send me the boxed collector's edition later on. That'd be $20.00 just for S&H alone....
As always, I'll wait a bit and see how the game's being received by the general public before plucking down the dough. :D
Anyway, it's the first space game I've been itching to get in a long while. Starcraft II is the next one on my short list.
Still "playing" GRAW right now... a game that's so punishing, it may not be fun for most people. For a game it's quite unforgiving, in fact, this isn't a game at all, it's a combat simulation. And it's also a system hog, but the devs put a lot of effort into it, so I'm going to finish it. So I'm really in no rush at all, since I got the sequel, GRAW 2. :D
I checked out the system reqs at work, and it seems like my computer MEETS most of the minimum specs while slightly exceeding at others (pretty much RAM and CPU).
It is the sux.

A giant multiplayer game sounds yummy.
On a side note: I havent been able to get it to run on wine :( Beer is next and then shots as a last resort.

This comment on the article amuses me:
And that's with no Copy Protection whatsoever.
Distributors, can we drop the useless damned copy protection schemes already, please?. Pretty please?.
I wonder if this means the rise of a new era in space conquest games? That would be nice, with luck it might even revive interest in space sims as well.
