Star Trek Wii?

WORFWORF The Burninator
No idea what this is all about, they don't seem to know either but the boxart for a possible Star Trek game on the Wii has been leaked.

Judging from the symbols, the Borg aren't in the game...but it looks like we'll be seeing the Dominion.

Apparently, a strategy game set during the Dominion War, judging by the Federation/Romulan/Klingon vesus Dominion/Breen/Cardassian art.

I don't know anything about it, but I am already very interested.

The Wii remote should lend itself well to strategy games, assuming that's what this is. I don't know though, Star Trek games don't have a very good track record.
  • EgaTrek was pretty sweet, in my opinion.

I'm amused that Star Trek seems to be getting a Wii game before the more obvious Star Wars.

Indeed, you'd have thought that one would be a no-brainer. Still it will be nice to see the Dominion used. For having such a big role in DS9 the only time you see them in any ST games is when a fan makes a mod

squee!!!! oh oh oh! This would be *so* awesome! I *heart* DS9!

I think those games might be tipping the balance if I'm finally going to get a Wii or not. I'm not really a Mario fan and I'm having a hard time getting used to video game controllers. I'm a mouse and keyboard gamer, but I can imagine using the wiimote as a lightsaber or a phaser. :D

I don't know if you guys have seen this, but there are more work-out themed controllers coming out for the Wii. I like how they are trying to get people off the couch, but I wonder how effective this will actually be.

Over 8 million Wiis sold with most people only playing this little game called Wii sports? That surprised a lot of people. I'm sure it will work as long as the pad is affordable and useful for other games.

I'm still really tempted by one, but its the lack of games that I'd play that still puts me off. This would be a step in the right direction though

Probably because DS9 wasn't as popular with the higher-ups as Voyager.

As long as it has cool combat that will sell it for me. The Dominion War was my favourite bit of DS9, gave it an edge, made it darker. Be interesting to see how the Wii works with this universe.

Ok, so it had one pretty dire outing. I'll rephrase then: the only time you see anything decent relating to the Dominion Wars is when a fan makes a mod.

Falcon1: I agree, the darkness that the Dominion war gave DS9 was what made it my favourite of the whole franchise, the whole darkness of it, and how they left almost no aspect unexplored

DS9 is a very smart show. Voyager and Enterprise, not so much. DS9 was also the redheaded stepchild of the Star Trek franchise and was "left to die" in the hands of Ira Steven Behr after its first two seasons under traditional rule. Of course, we all know that the changes were more than worthwhile in the end. Had it not been passed off, we would never have had the chance to experience any arc stories whatsoever. It wasn't until Enterprise that Micro-arcs were tried again, and those were done so miserably that I doubt we'll get another shot at them in the trek universe.

And Trek games are another territory that is never really spoken much of because too many developers abuse the license and produce bad games. The Fans end up not buying the product and Paramount connects the poor sales to a "lack of" or "overestimated fan interest in the license." Result, no games for another five years.

All we need is interplay to come out of limbo and give us Secret of Vulcan Fury.

    Well, it's been announced.

The details are vague but the basic concept seems like it has potential.
