New Battlestar Galactica game announced

WORFWORF The Burninator
And...I think Beyond the Red Line might have to worry...if Sierra realises the fan made game is better than what this new attempt seems to be.

I believe the officially unofficial plan should BtRL get shutdown is to convert it into a standalone mod with the exact same design and features, and then "someone else" will mod that into a BSG game.

Well, this is a xbox live arcade game. The arcade games are short and simple, and arent really considered big name products. Shouldnt interfere with btRL.

I actually don't like the look of that. BTRL looks so much better. Hope they can stay going with it.
  • Ugh...low poly models, oblique-angle gameplay, cartoony lighting...I am sorry to say that it is living down to my expectations of what they would put out. I was really hoping they'd take the opportunity to really do something good. Of course, when it was originally announced to be XBLA, I figured as much.

Unless they go all Emo on us, we should be good.

They should frakking hire most of our modellers and designers and get them on a full commercial game (I wish I could be on that list, but I hold no illusions of the demand of story-writers in the industry...they would probably frak it up but I'm sure there are an abundance of second-rate writers/ideas out there. A pity.)
  • RedAss is right. We have great designers here that all should be hired on to do some type of great flight sim game!
  • I was talking about my fellow BtRL teammates, but your statement is true as well!

I agree, the graphics don't look nearly as good as BtRL. That's kinda sad considering BtRL is based on a game engine that's over a decade old. :) Then again, BtRL is very well done, with time and effort put into it. Most games based on shows and movies are slapped together in order to make a quick buck, quality be damned.

The size limit of a xbla game is 150MB

I have to say, this makes sense in a weird kind of way. If you want to make a game tie-in to a series, and want it to hit as big a market as possible, an XBLA game makes more sense because you can make it simpler and thus open to a wider crowd than if you made a hard-core game (such as a space sim). The reason I say this is weird is because one would think that a scifi series like BSG would have gamers as its core crowd and so wouldn't need this approach.
