The great irony of this is that my work just got two of these for the help desk. Since I am the lead of that team, I have designated one to be the new on-call phone and am going to have the other one on a rotation so we all know how to use them.
This is just in case some of the attorneys decide to get them and want to ask us for help.
I only needed one of them, I don't want to get a heart attack from dropping something that costs as much as my TV. :D I mean it's a frakkin' phone.
And money is an important if not the most important factor, it's the reason why satellite phones have not taken off as a true alternative to cell phones.
Apple needs to make a satphone. They could enter the market as the first hip worldwide mobile phone carrier. People would line up to pay with any range of internal organs and/or offspring to own one. the iSat.

Some N95 vs iPhone fun: ;)

I ONLY have a cell phone for a phone. I pay only $25/month for 800 minutes and free texting on my shiny LG Verizon phone which can also play mp3s. I also have an iPod which was a gift and which Apple accidently gave me a refund on....so, in fact, I win. :D
One difference I've noticed between many other people and me. Most other I know want one singel device for one thing so they get the best experience out of it. Like they have a cellphone only to make phonecalls and a mp3 player to listen to music. The good thing about that is you probably get better quality from one device that does one thing good than one thing that does many things. Also you get smaller devices and can leave the thing home that you don't need. Me on the other hand hates it when I got 5 different things with me to keep track of. Quite hard to also use a headset for your phone and listen to your iPod (or whatever) at the same time. So that's why I go with something like the N95, I get the digital camera that is good enough to take pictures on random occasions, I get the GPS that is well enough to even use as a car gps, I get my music player (wich is better quality than some small mp3 players) that I can use my own headphones with and it even got the handsfree headset module so I can get handsfree with my own headphones, I even put small videos on my 1gb microSD memory so I can watch somethings like mythbusters or simpsons when I'm on a trip or just waiting somewhere and I can even make normal calls, and the voice commands for calling someone work amazingly well even without teaching the system how my voice sounds. There's a whole other bunch of things it can do that I use more rarly and the thing is that due to some free and some pay-to-use software I find myself using my N95 for more than I thought I would. The only crappy part is the battery life but I usually am atleast once a day places I can recharge it so it doesn't bother me that much (still going to buy a backup battery).

i have got to get me a Blendetc!
It is an interesting toy which needs a faster network to realize its potential.
I've never used one on EDGE, however one of our customers hooked his up to our WiFi network, and the thing was outstanding,
Again, from a pure gadget standpoint, i gotta get me one.
wonder which of my kidneys i should sell to get it...
