Jericho

Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Did any of you watch Jericho on CBS? i actually thought it as a rather good show, but CBS in their infinate wisdom, canceled it, in some pretty strange circumstances, they cited ratings, and yet the ratings, while not spectacular, were good (better than many other network shows) and it was up against American Idol...

I just don't get CBS...

• WHAT?! They canned Jericho?! LINK! I DEMAND A LINK!

Nevermind, found it...network execs blow. I also enjoyed Close to home and New adventures of Old Christine, and THOSE got canceled too.

"The network also canceled its nuclear apocalypse drama "Jericho," another sign that networks are shying away from serial dramas after gorging on them earlier this season."--yahoo news

Serial shows (shows that have over-arcing storylines...like Babylon 5) are my favorite; it feels less like 'flavor of the week' and allows the viewer to identify more with the characters over the course of the series.

Rack 'Jericho' up with Space: Above and Beyond, Firefly, Out of Practice, Commander in Chief, and Crusade as a great show killed before its time.

Okay, it's just entertainment, but compared to other shows I watch (like CSI), Jericho held my attention and had me actually caring about the characters.

Retards.

*edit* Oh yeah, and one more thing...to leave viewers with such a cliff-hanger never to be resolved...that's just cruel. Maybe another network would be able to give it a shot? It would almost work on the Sci-Fi Channel...a damn sight better than ECW!
• Seriously? :(

I am very disappointed at the moment... Sad even...

Don't try to. It'll break your mind.

Ok guys, There is a campaign going on to try and convince CBS of their mistake, Yes, it's prolly futile, but, we're giving it a go anyway, http://www.jericholives.com and http://www.jerichorallypoint.com have information, also cbs's own Jericho Board is still up and running.

we're all calling CBS, sending them packets of Nuts, sending emails to CBS, and our local affiliates. The more people we get to call in, (and the longer we keep the calls going) the more likely it is that CBS may listen.

The ratings were not terrible, not great, but not terrible, about 8 million viewers per ep, IN fact, the first week in May, Jericho outperformed Medium, All 3 Law and Orders, Family guy, The Simpsons, and a few others.

And yet CBS is replacing Jericho, with Kid Nation, a Lord of the Flies type Reality show, where 40 kids between 8 and 15 are left alone in a ghost town to form their own society (sounds effing lame)

So, again even though its prolly futile, go to the sites and give all the help you can.
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Well, CBS isn't an inherently bad entity, so they might reconsider their decision.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
CBS may not be, But Les Moonves is a bit of an idiot. I seriously doubt that we will have much of an impact, but its better to try and lose, cause if we dont try, we just lose.

i could even accept it more if they were replacing it with something good, but a kid reality show based on Lord of the Flies... thats just lame. Especially cause, well if they have ever read Lord of the Flies.. we know how it will end, lol
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
I watched the first 4 episodes and it was ok but not brilliant. I did notice though that the first couple of episodes on Tv.com were rated about 8.5 but the last 10 or so came in around 9.0 and up. Maybe I should give it another go. Gonna be a long summer without any new shows to watch.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
It did get much better, and remember, S1 of B5 wasn't great, shows need time to really get into the good stuff. especially serialized shows.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Well our campaign is gaining some semi-mainstream media attention.

CBS May Wrap Up Jericho

CBS, which canceled the post-apocalyptic series Jericho last week, posted a statement in response to fan outcry that the show ended on a cliffhanger and promised it would wrap the show up in some fashion.

In a statement on the official show bulletin board, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler told fans: "We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series, and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story."

In the season-one finale of Jericho, the denizens of Jericho, Kansas, were preparing to go to war with a neighboring town. The episode ended with the sound of gunfire over a black screen. After the episode aired, CBS announced that the show would not be returning for a second season in the fall, leading fans to send a raft of e-mails to the network. (SyFyPortal reported on some of the fan reaction.)

"We have read your e-mails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment," Tassler wrote. "Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the network, the production company and the incredibly talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show—both on-air and online. It is a show we loved, too. Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion."

and today, the first 1,500 pounds (yes FIFTEEN HUNDRED POUNDS) of nuts were sent to CBS HQ in New York, there will be another 1,000 + pounds heading out tomorow.
• Awesome!! Keeping up the fight.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Totals so far...

3581 lbs of nuts

shipped 89 lbs on 5/17
shipped 24 lbs on 5/18
shipped 1393 lbs on 5/21
yet to ship: 2075 lbs

Your nuts.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
well, yes, yes we are. lol

but it's working, slowly,

there is already another ton and a half to ship tomorow.
• We loves our quality television:D

For me personally, this is for all those Fireflies, Commanders in Chief, Space Above and Beyonds, etc out there that were un-deservingly canceled before given the chance they truly deserved as well conceived and well written shows (okay SAAB is a little iffy there, but it was cool!). The time of impotent viewers remaining at the mercy of network decisions is past, and I think we will be seeing a much more outspoken presence by the viewers in the next fiew years.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
For me, it's also to try and convince the Networks that Neilsons are a thing of the past, Jericho did OK in the Neilsons, which is what CBS based their cancelation decision on, but they didnt factor in all the Online viewers, they seriously hyped being able to watch Jericho online, and they didnt even count those viewers.
• I totally agree with that...the current ratings system is obsolete, and does not take into account the new avenues of entertainment...
• SpiritOneSpiritOne Magneto ABQ NM
you can also download the episodes on the xbox live download service in high definition. Thats actually how my wife and I watched the first half of the season.
• I just saw that a couple nights ago, Spirit! (I finally got a 360)...pretty cool, and I'm glad they are still available!!...

...they also have Babylon 5 on XBox Live:D
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people

I liked it, and it was better than Invasion...
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
We're now being picked up by major media outlets, EW, E-Online, CBSnews, ABCnews.

I guess $27,000 worth of nuts will actually get you noticed.
• 11 tons of peanuts purchased so far...and what's great, it has cost most contributors nothing more than a movie would, if that! I can only hope that we will have an effect...the media coverage improves, which is only good for Jericho, and television viewers in general!
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
I wish someone would buy me 11 tons of peanuts.
