B5 short vid - roughcut unfinished

Hi there all.
I thought I would post a link to the video I mentioned. I am about 65% finished, so this is still a real roughcut.
Its a large file (thank you windows media 9).
Opinions?

Checked it out and while the editing is fantastic, the actual composition makes zero sense in regard to the song. You've got a keen eye and skill at splicing together the footage, but it just comes off as arbitrary musical backing at this point.

Editing was good but the song was the downer. What "he" was the song referring to?
• I greatly appreciate the feedback.

Well, I wasn't trying to tell a story, the desire was that someone who never saw the show would see 3 distinct conflict scenarios.

If you don't know the story this is what I hope you see:

A space station, inside is a guy. This guy is in conflict with another badass fellow in uniform, and is broken up about it. Guy kicks his uniformed ass a few times, regrets it. Wonders why he is even at this place in life. Turns out he just wants to be like badass uniformed guy... and here is why......

Next an odd hair guy is "waiting for someone" as giant black 'things' in the sky and space. Lizard guy is a prisoner. Hair guys turn on each other? 2 distinct Aliens talk to Rod Serling. He goes to odd hair guy and asks "what do you want?" (I thought that with the music's help you could read his lips). Mr Serling then becomes 'everything hair guy wants and needs' (which apparently is total destruction by the big black things).... Hair guy watches it all happen with regret apparently...

1 more verse to go and final chorus.

You are now set up to watch the glory that is Babylon 5, and get the answers to the 3 conflicts.

That isn't easily apparent if you know the B5 story, I think. My thoughts were 3 stages.....
1) Earth civil war: Garibaldi's conflict with "he # one" Sheridan and eventual betrayal (I started watching the original broadcasts at this time so perhaps my view on him is different because of that)
2) The rise and fall of the Centari: Londo's conflict with everybody and his betrayal of "he #2" Mordon and the Shadows
3) Sinclair saves the universe - twice: Minbari, conflict with Sinclair ultimately betraying "he # three" Valen (Sinclair) in the (almost) destruction of humanity.

Ending with Sinclair / Valen ascended, showing the viewer that he is the pivotal character. To me he is.

So why not tell the 'he who was, he who is and he who will be' story?
There isn't any good footage of Delenn kicking ass and the casual viewer doesn't care I assume. They want turmoil and action. 3 acts - 3 verses, finale.

It is super hard to present a simple 3 minute Babylon 5 primer via song.

Congrats if you read all of this.

The problem that I see is that the music ends up distracting the viewer from the story as you present it. It has them attempting to forge a connection between the two where none exists. One option you could take, however, is to strip the vocals off the track and use it as instrumental-only. Having lyrics that do not match is ineffective at conveying the message.
• Thats a good idea.

I agree, the editing is fantastic! Im very impressed.
I dont know about the music though it was refreshing to hear something else with B5.
