JMS Meeting!

WORFWORF The Burninator
So, Falcon1 and I got to meet him!

Falcon1 arrived first, luckily he found out the queue was behind the shop and sent me a message.

Eventually they let us in, he was very friendly and seemed to give everyone a chance to talk to him, rather than rushing through.

After he was finished signing, we went back and got some photos and asked him green or purple. He replied that he was neutral to the whole conflict and wouldn't pick either colour.

Indeed it was a good day :) Yup I got there at 9.45, all travel connections couldn't have been better. So it was a bit of a wait until 1pm but it was worth.

Overall he was just a really nice guy, very friendly and easy to chat too. I asked him if Chris Franke would be releasing a soundtrack for TLT and he said he would and that he had done an awesome job! Can't wait for that! I got 10 items signed in the end. And yeah at the end we went back round the signing area and he was still there. He invited us through the security barrier and we got to chat again and get a photo taken. As Worf said he asked the purple/green question and I asked "fresh spoo or aged spoo" and JMS said "exactly". Very Kosh ;)

Anyway here's my pics and a short video I took with the camera:

Pretty wrecked after all the traveling but it was sure worth it. Oh and it was nice to meet up with you Worf. Next time maybe we should invade New York and have some of those BIG STEAKS that Sanfam eats :p
• DaxDax Redshirt
YES, you guys should come across the pond!

And Worf, I really think in the back your hair IS longer than mine- LOL.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment

.....the mind boggles.....
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
Keep in mind that FirstOnes are always welcome at the Sanjanwala Bed & Breakfast. Consider it a membership perk. :p So what's that now, six members housed for a short term?

And yes, enormous steaks for those who do come over. mmm...tastes like happy.

Worf: I say "sucks to be you" :P Oh, the pain I've suffered! ;)
• JackNJackN Lightwave Alien
Worf has a definate Ranger look and quality to him right about now doesn't he... ;)
• WORFWORF The Burninator
Sanfam: Next time I'm over, I'm bringing weapons.

JackN: We live for the one, we die for the one!

Worf
• DaxDax Redshirt
*points out that Worf already brought a weapon last time*

haha- my bf read this and was just like "oh dear..." LOL!
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
"oh dear" may be an understatement
• Falcon1Falcon1 Elite Ranger
Messiah, the Narn comes out at night ;)

I think any outsider would look at our forum posts and go "oh dear" :D

Yeah I did kinda think Worf looked like a ranger when he got dropped off by that Whitestar on saturday.

Sanfam that sounds like a deal. I do need to wander over to the US at some stage to see what its all about. With the current exchange rate a shopping trip to New York is very tempting. So B5 and steak will defo be on the menu.
• DaxDax Redshirt
hehe nah, my boyfriend (Nathan) is a pretty easy going guy

and yes! We need an East Coast meet up! We should really make plans instead of talking about it. Croxis- jetblue is cheap- you should come too! (as well as anyone else who is not on the east coast and wants to)
• SanfamSanfam I like clocks.
It's a distinct possibility. Maine looks like a fantastic choice, as it's accessible to those in the US thanks to said use of JetBlue. It's a winner because it is inconveniently far from everyone! ;)

Anyway, other possibilities *are* open. Callista has some absurd range of vacation hours (80?), and it looks like my summer will be packed with freelance, so we've got time to kill.

Edit: Also, the Sanjanwala B&B is always available for lodging, too :p
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
Indeed, 80 hours of vacation time and 40 of sick time, all available until April of 2008.
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
Yeah well, I've only been at this job 2 years and only been full time for 1 of those 2 and besides, they force you to use all your year's worth of vacation time in that one year. If you don't, you lose it.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Your employment laws suck.
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
A couple of frineds and I was talking about that a couple of days ago too, and we couldnt figure out if the 1st of may was a holiday in the states. Is it?
Your employment laws suck.
Tell me about it. I'm lucky I actually get paid vacation time, not all employers give it and from what I hear the rate of accrual I have isn't too shabby compared to others. That's 80 hours earned in one year and I'm just a low level cashier who's only been with the company two years. Other places don't even start the accrual until you've been there 2-5 years.

It's not a Federal holiday, i.e. we don't get work/school off or banks closed, etc., but it is on American calendars as a holiday. It's just another ignored holiday like Flag Day.
• BigglesBiggles The Man Without a Face
Here, everyone gets a minimum of 4 weeks' annual leave. Accrual differs depending on the job. The standard is you get 4 weeks' leave at the end of your first year. At my current job, I started accumulating days off from my first day on the job at a rate of about 1 day every three weeks. When you leave a job, you get your accrued holiday pay paid out, even if it isn't given till the end of your work year (typically, 8% of what you earned since your last holiday).
• C_MonC_Mon A Genuine Sucker
I started working in October and will have 2 weeks' leave starting 4th of June.

I hate you....my accrual rate is like 6 hours per month if you're full time, 3 if you're part time. We can put in for our vacation or sick time to be given to us in money in our paycheck at any time but if we're fired we lose it. I don't know about quitting though, haven't looked into that.
• Entil'ZhaEntil'Zha I see famous people
Lets see, vacation time, i get uhh, about 6 months of vacation a year, it's called Winter. pity its not paid.
• sataicallistasataicallista High Priestess of Squeee!
LOL what kind of job do you have, then?
• MessiahMessiah Failed Experiment
He has an Internet cafe..
