Stormchasing vacation

E.TE.T Quote-o-matic
I guess could be said that plan has changed slightly from original plan...

Big part of friend's vacation budget decayed (or rusted through) with his car and after that optician took own part of it so he won't be keeping much expensive vacations in this summer.
So instead of with him I'll be chasing with two Australian and one Slovenian chaser.

Also time of vacation has changed somewhat, I have HEL-ZRH-DFW flight for 5th day of May and OKC-DFW-ZRH-HEL flights for 26th/27th day. (departs from DFW at 1455, lands to ZRH at 0750 in next morning)
Slovenian chaser is flying through Zurich and Alps are more interesting than old mouldy cities so there wasn't much thinking in deciding which place to choose for stop between Dallas and Helsinki.

DFW and OKC will be a *little* different from HEL. I grew up near DFW and always thought the highway overpasses were exciiting because they were the highest thing I'd ever been on.

    Mountains? What are those? ;)

Too bad you weren't here this past week, that area got rocked by some massive storm events!

Jimmy Deguara who is already in US has seen three tornadoes in five chases so I guess conditions are quite good.

23½ hours and counting before I'll leave home.

I even got Canon HV20 I ordered from Austria nicely today... and it includes even English manual.
If you need camcorder with adjustments and want to use those don't even think Sony HDR-HC5 or HC7, all settings have been buried deep inside touch-screen menus in those.

Enjoy the vacation and I hope you are able to catch a glimpse of some good ones. The midwest seems to be quite active this spring, so I think you picked a good year.

I for some peculiar reason you make it up to Missouri, St. Louis in particular, holler at me.

I think we're staying in area where geography is good (flat and treeless) for chasing, meaning mostly Texas-Nebraska axis.

There seems to be something good looking near Nebraska panhandle, nice line of storms with heavy radar echo.

If someone can't find US radar pics here's one site:

Then just pick the radar pin you want to view.
