I originally had a whole response to your other line about needing to watch it as a human being typed up in my other post, but in the end decided it wasn't worth trying to argue against your personal belief. I don't need to watch a video of Saddam being executed to be aware that it happened and why.
There is a large area of grey between being ignorant of what goes on in the world, which is what you are implying many people here are because they don't want to watch a video of the execution of Saddam, and burying yourself in all the horrible stuff that goes on. Neither extreme is beneficial.
I'm hardly unwilling to debate it; I'm just not sure this thread is the place.
And, yes, there is a huge difference between abject ignorance and immersing yourself entirely in what is happening in these places. But that wasn't his argument. His argument was that he doesn't need to watch it and ruin his holiday, which rather immediately reduces to "I don't need to see any of this, because it isn't important enough to merit my discomfort".
Jack: honestly, I'm not even sure how to take that, let alone respond to it.
You know its very plausable that the CIA/NSA and the US government wants this situation where it is. Keeps the money flowing into the secret service agencies and weapons research and development. Keeps the peoples western world afraid and governments with more and more power.
If we're saying that people are responsible for his death then add me to that list as well. My government allowed US troop planes to land in Shannon Airport to refuel on their way to Iraq. There were lots of protests and one guy even managed to get through the fences and attacked a US plane with a hatchet (I kid you not!). But of course our boys ignored all that because of all the sweet $$$ George was passing our way in brown envelopes.
If find it very hypocritical of the Irish government to claim neutrality but allow our airspace to be used for war. But then we did that as well for GW1.

Not that ever expect serious journalism from CNN (or pretty much any American news channel), but I really disagree with everyone who doesn't want to see this. How much you may or may not dislike him is irrelevant. We killed this man. You have a responsibility to see fully what you are responsible for and watch a man die. It strikes me as supremely arrogant and foolish to attempt to hide behind a thin veil of civility because you simply find your own barbarism too uncomfortable.
Not, of course, that this is what you'll get on Fox. They'll broadcast it as a snuff film while Sean Hannity masturbates to it. At least we can all rest easy. War's over, guys. Let's go home.
I disagree completely, there are those who argued against this course of action, would you apply your logic to them?
The war is not over either, not by a long way because of the way that this has been done. it will go on for several years now because unless the country is stabilised and rebuilt the different factions will continue to fight and there are those who will direct their anger outwards.

Apparently, I do. I'm one of them, after all.

You seem to be in need of a new sarcasm detector.
