*chuckle*
seriously though, my 1895 45/70 Marlin Lever Action does the trick, there's nuthin I can't take down with that, aside from perhaps a small helicopter... :P

That is all.
I'd delete the optics and put a 2.5 long eye relief 'scout' scope.
20 or 30 rd box ? you must plan on missing alot...:D
Having your LOS so far from the barrel is also something that concerns me.
Also, thats an assault rifle, not something most people can own.
mine however, the Marlin 1895 45/70 is something available to, or attainable by most folks.

(bottom of the 3 pics on the right, except mine carries an illuminated reticule Nightforce 'Scout' Scope.
In a fair fight, you wouldn't get your SCAR on target before I blow you clean off your feet...
You'd be amazed how much difference a long eye relief optic makes. You can point and shoot a rifle like a shotgun at obscenely long ranges.
Sorry to rain on your parade Space Ghost but the auto shotgun unfortunately, is a still born concept. In practise, it gets too hot, dirty and unreliable too fast.
I wish Tyvar would appear right about now..:) This thread seems awfully wrong without him.
Did I mention my favorite is a fully automatic shotgun? :D
That would be fun, talk about suppression fire.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of shell load would make the optics useful though.

Why must you ruin my fun? *sniff*

It uses 12 gauge shells, so I can't imagine at full auto it would be terribly accurate.
But when you can blast off that many shotgun rounds, who needs to aim? ;) I wouldn't worry too much about the optics that were added later. Give me the factory standard weapon with the 20 round drum and something big that needs to be shot up and I'll be one happy Space Ghost. :D

Even comes with its own seat and everything :D
Isnt that water?
Its funny, in the Warhammer 40k rulebook, it says the ammo fired by Spacemarines have slugs of depleted deuterium..
Isnt that water?
Heavy water. ;)
Deuterium: 2H or D
Water: H2O
Heavy water: D2O
According to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deuterium
Not sure why they call it depleted either, because it's initially not radioactive...
I guess it's just for effect and it sounds trekky. :D
Don't feel bad, I didn't know it either and I took a couple of chemistry courses. ;)
They don't teach doomsday chemistry in class.
But still, silly technobabble can really ruin stuff. This is a case where it isnt an integral part of the story, but man if it were, I would have a hard time playing that game..
Ah, yes youre right of course.

I was unsure if I should get the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War Anthology (GOTY+2Expansions) until now. The store I usually get my games from just ran out of the box set so that decision was taken for me. Aw, well, maybe I'll find it somewhere else. I'm a snailgamer and cheap too. :D
Im gonna get the anthology myself soon.. :)
Deuterium is not heavy water, Deuterium is a component of heavy water. Deuterium is an isotope of hydrogen.
Man, what was I thinking? It was almost like I was making a joke. ;)
Arethusa, in 7.62, yeah, the SCAR is a good piece, reminds me of the FN/SLR.
I'd delete the optics and put a 2.5 long eye relief 'scout' scope.

Ask and you shall recieve!
First off FN-USA will be offering civilian versions of the SCAR in 2008 or so, or at least the rumor here is to that effect so yes if your a murican you can get one of those, albet in semi automatic and with a minimum barrel length of 16 inches.
*Tyvar tears up for a moment* God bless the USA!
Secondly the sights on that are either aimpoints or similar sights, in alot of ways they do function like long eye relief scopes, and they are very, very fast to aquire target picture, however mostly they are either unmagnified or 2X so they are for short ranged engagements.
*runs towards him arms outstretched for a hug... and suddenly stops in his tracks, drops into a very neutral non-threatening pose*...
Uhm yeah... Hi Tyvar, good to see you.
whew ! almost got my arse shot off there...
*passes him a box of 30 aught six*
Merry Christmas/New Year
mmm aught six...

It's just.. it's just not the same. Sniff.
So why didn't anyone get the joke? :D
Genius is rarely appreciated in one's own time. ;)

oh for gods sakes, fill out the forms pay your 200 dollar tax stamp and get it as an Short Barreled Rifle, and you can have your ultra small barrels ya winer, all your missing then is the automatic fire capability, which the SCAR-H might not have anyways (since 7.62x51 isnt even slightly controlable in full auto out of anything smaller then a light machinegun)
you'd need a belt feed adaptor or something... big ass banana clips ? :D
I like the P90. Doesn't pack a huge punch but a nice compact weapon.
